Over the past years we’ve had hundreds of New York (We can help contractors who work in the tri-state area) contractors turn to us for help getting new Worker’s Compensation insurance because they were being cancelled for whatever reason.
The #1 cause for cancellation was poor loss experience. They had a few rotten apple employees that filed phony comp claims and drove their employer loss runs into the hundreds of thousands, millions in losses. We actually sat in on an audit with this company, had our client describe in detail what they did and their head auditor could care less, was an a__hole and charged them a $50+ rate. In the end we got help from the NYCIRB (who this company had to listen to) and the rate ended up being $13+.
Finally contractors are being non-renewed because they no longer fit their company’s underwriting guidelines. They sub out too much work. They operate at heights in excess of 2 stories.
